One way for you to do exactly that is by attending conferences and other types of meetups. The larger scale events will usually have many interesting speakers from well-known companies, giving attendees a chance to learn from the pros.
Don’t forget: the costs of going to conferences add up. So make sure you make the most out of the experience. Plan beforehand what your goal for the event is: hearing particular speakers, establishing new contacts, looking for an investor, or something else. Decide whether the event helps you accomplish your goals, and during the conference keep your focus on the things that matter to you.

IRCE – Internet Retailer Conference + Exhibition
Chicago, Illinois – June 6-9
If experience is what you’re looking for, IRCE will be the perfect fit for you: it has taken place for more than 10 years, and previous speakers have included Vice President of Dell and Social Media Manager of NASA. There are more than 130 events scheduled with more than 200 speakers participating. The event is truly huge, so make sure to plan your time as efficiently as possible – study the agenda in advance and schedule time for the activities that interest you the most.

Palm Springs, California – February 27-March 2
eTail organizes a number of events throughout the year in various locations, and the first one out of the gate will be the eTail West conference in Palm Springs. More than 220 speakers are scheduled to participate, including representatives from companies like Barnes & Noble, Walmart, and Nordstrom. You’ll have a chance to learn more about SEO, email marketing, online growth, and many other topics.
Social Media Week New York
New York City, New York – February 27-March 3
In today’s world, ecommerce stores can’t survive without proper marketing, and social media is definitely one of the ways to go. Social Media Week in New York will provide you with plenty of tips and knowledge on how to make social media work for you so that you can market to your customers as effectively as possible.
Nashville, Tennessee – March 6-8
A gathering place for ecommerce experts, the event will look at the many different ways you can improve your ecommerce store through digital marketing, finding new ecommerce opportunities, etc. One of this year’s keynote speakers will be none other than the famous businesswoman Martha Stewart.
Traffic and Conversion Summit 2017
San Diego, Californa – March 10-12
Your ecommerce store will dwindle if people don’t visit it, and converting those visits into actual sales is just as important. The Traffic and Conversion Summit is a three-day event that’ll cover topics like generating sales, optimizing your website, marketing tools, and more.
Las Vegas, Nevada – March 19-22
With more than 250 speakers scheduled to appear, Shoptalk will offer something for everyone who’s interested in ecommerce. Each day will be divided into different topics, like ecommerce, research and market insights, etc. So you’ll have to choose which ones interest you the most. And you’ll have a chance to hear from representatives of Facebook, Walmart, Target, Amazon, and other big companies.
San Francisco, California – April 20-21
This one’s for you, Shopify fans. This two-day event will look back at the platform’s achievements last year, as well as take a sneak peek towards the future. If your ecommerce store is based on Shopify’s platform or if you’re considering using it, this event should provide valuable insights.
Seattle, Washington – date TBD
Those of you who prefer all things Woo can already look forward to this year’s WooConf. Not much is known about it at the moment, but the WooCommerce event is expected to take place in Seattle, Washington, in the fall. Visit their website to sign up for updates.
Boston, Massachusetts – August 14-17
This event is similar to eTail West. Dedicated to ecommerce professionals, the conference will feature experts of the field sharing their knowledge.
Toronto – March 8-9
The biggest ecommerce event in Canada, Dx3 is dedicated to digital marketing, tech and retail. This year’s keynote speakers will be Head of Global Marketing at Pinterest and Global Chief Innovation Officer at IBM.
Toronto – May 16-18
eTail is also organizing a conference in Toronto, Canada. You can look forward to hearing from representatives of companies like Sears, L’Oréal, Toys R Us, and others.
London – June 20-22
If you’re not based in the US or Canada, don’t worry – plenty of events are organized elsewhere as well. For example, take a look at eTail’s main event in Europe, which will take place in June in London. Speakers will include representatives from Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Sainsbury’s, and many other established companies.
Digimarcon Asia Pacific
Singapore – September 20-21
This two-day event will take a look at many different aspects of digital marketing, including web experience management, content marketing, targeting and optimization, and many more.
