We're located in two states at the moment - California and North Carolina. Because we now have presence in both places, we're required by law to tax all orders shipped to California and North Carolina, unless you provide a state resale certificate.
You can apply for a North Carolina Taxpayer's ID (Sales Tax Permit) on the North Carolina Department Of Revenue page right here.
Proceed by uploading the resale certificate to your store settings: Stores > Edit > scroll down to “become exempt from tax with the resale certificate.” After we have reviewed and approved it, you will not be charged sales tax on orders shipping to North Carolina (however, you are responsible for all taxes on your end).
If you DO NOT have a North Carolina Taxpayer's ID (State resale certificate), we will collect North Carolina statewide tax + district/city tax on all orders to North Carolina. It's calculated from retail product value and retail shipping value. At the time of publishing this FAQ, North Carolina's sales tax rate ranges from 4.75% to 7.5%. Keep track of the current tax rate here.
Note that Printful will only charge sales tax on orders shipped to North Carolina and California. You can read more about California sales tax here.
