Fulfillment updates for Printful customers

Follow this page to learn the latest updates and what they mean for you

With the holiday season right around the corner, our teams across the globe are busy preparing for the increase in order volume. We think that it's especially important during these times to support our customers to work from home however we can.

This is a difficult time for everyone and we're working hard to adapt to this new reality. We'll continue to share information on this page, so check back often.

Latest update

December 3, 2020

Printful's biggest-ever BFCM has just passed, and our fulfillment teams are busy working on your orders. Almost all of our facilities are working 24/7, and thanks to hiring more people and adding equipment during our peak prep time, we're now fulfilling more orders than ever, reaching 1 million shipped items every month.

The fulfillment times for our most popular products, including direct-to-garment (DTG), embroidery, and all-over print items, have slowed down a little, but the estimates are still within the 2–7 business day timeframe.

Fulfillment times

Two categories in the US are experiencing delays: mugs have a 3–8 business day estimate, and sublimation products (blankets, laptop sleeves, towels, socks, flip-flops) are being fulfilled in 5–10 business days. We suggest you pause your marketing campaigns for these products for now, and let your customers know that their orders will take longer to get to them.

These delays are a result of not only the incoming order volume, but also some Covid-19 cases in our facilities. Keeping our employees safe is a priority for us, and we're taking all the necessary precautions.

To get back to 2–5 business day fulfillment for mugs and sublimated items, we're outsourcing some of the orders to our backup partners. Their fulfillment speed is included in the estimates table below.

Due to US customs being closed on Thanksgiving weekend, some shipments from Mexico to the US also might see delays. Customs are working normally now, so this will be a short term issue.

Product push limitations

To help manage the order volume, we're keeping in place the product push limitations for customers located in the US and Canada. We're also temporarily removing Throw Blankets and Sublimated Socks from product push for customers located in the US and Canada.

We're with you—these restrictions are frustrating. The main goal is to keep the fulfillment estimates consistent and get all your customer orders out in time for the holidays. We saw in early spring that the most effective way to do it is by limiting the order volume from new added products.

Please understand that early warnings would bring a rush of new products being added to stores, defeating the purpose of our efforts to manage order volume.

Customers located in the US and Canada can add 2 of the limited products per 24 hours. The products with limitations are:

  • All direct-to-garment (DTG) products

  • Most sublimation products—laptop sleeves, towels, and flip-flops

  • All-Over Print Face Masks

Customers located in the US and Canada currently can't push to their stores:

  • Throw Blankets

  • Black Foot Sublimated Socks

The products already live on your store can still be ordered with no limitations and you can place manual orders. However, restrictions also apply to editing the products live on your store and creating new templates with the limited products.

We'll remove the limitations as soon as the fulfillment queue goes down. Most likely it'll happen in the next couple of weeks, once the order deadlines in the US have passed. Right now we're focusing on getting your customers' orders out in time for the holidays.

Deadlines and fulfillment queue

Seeing the incoming order volume, we also adjusted our holiday order deadlines, moving deadlines for products shipped from the US 2 days earlier according to our predicted fulfillment and shipping times. Check out the deadlines and communicate them with your customers to make sure their holiday gifts arrive on time.

We're doing our best to keep with our first in, first out (FIFO) approach. But it's not always possible because of stock issues, production capacity, using backup facilities, and many other reasons. In some cases FIFO won't apply, but we're trying to stick to it as much as possible.

Please make sure to regularly check in with the latest fulfillment estimates published below. Note that our average fulfillment times apply to orders that come in after the date the averages are calculated, and don't apply to older orders.

Our Customer Support email reply time is about one day, but we usually reply sooner. We're increasing our chat availability to resume 24/7 live support in the near future.

Thank you for your patience and for reading.
