Printful hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, November 15th to celebrate their expansion to Charlotte. Printful is a dropshipping company that prints and ships print products for ecommerce retailers. They are based out of Latvia and California, and this expansion to Charlotte is their first step to opening more locations.

The event took place at their 100,000 square-foot fulfillment center located at 11025 Westlake Drive. Distinguished guests included the Latvian ambassador to the US, Andris Teikmanis.

“[Printful] has common qualities with a number of other Latvian companies: flexibility, adaptiveness to customer needs, of good quality, and very quick. This is how [Printful] and other Latvian companies can outperform the competition. I think this opening is a good gift to Charlotte, bringing 200 jobs by 2018,” says Teikmanis.

The ribbon cutting ceremony coincided with another milestone: Printful printed their one millionth t-shirt last week, which is another signal of their continuing growth. Printful has grown 200% every year since it launched in 2013 and now boasts over 10,000 active users.

The company was founded by Lauris Liberts, an entrepreneur from Latvia who also co-founded the country's first social network platform. Printful's main headquarters are in Los Angeles, and they have an office in Latvia. The Charlotte branch is three times larger than their California location and will be the hub for expanding to new products and features. Printful invested $1.5 million in the move and will hire 200 new employees by the end of 2018.

North Carolina was chosen because it is home to other established textile companies. Charlotte offers close proximity to Printful's suppliers and printers, and to an experienced workforce. It is also close to Printful's client base on the East Coast and in the Midwest. When the new facilities are fully operational, approximately 70% of all orders will be printed there, which will decrease shipping time for East Coast orders by 1.5 days.
